Passionate Fans Ever Since!

June 12, 2008

Although I am a supporter of the Turkish club Galatasaray the videos below include both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. I wanted to portray the passion of the fans in Turkey. The number of fans in the stadium are very low in comparison to other European stadiums but this is as passionate as football can get. As they say football is a religion to them 🙂

Fenerbahce (confetti rain) Just listen to the fans!

The stadium is on fire! Galatasaray!!

Another Derby with Fenerbahce and Galatasaray (voted the world’s best derby!)

What do you think?

Euro 2008: Turkey!

June 12, 2008

Considering that I am Turkish (and a very nationalistic one) I truly enjoy watching my team compete in internationally recognized competitions. Euro is being watched all over the world and to be in the last 16 gives me pride. Today Turkey played Switzerland and I had the chance to watch it in a pub in England owned by Turkish. The place was packed full of them and the atmosphere was great! I felt like I was in the stadium itself. The game itself, although ended in a dramatic win, wasn’t so great. The referee literally killed the game by calling out fouls every few minutes without reason. The rain could have been the reason for the lack of vision but these referees should be world class referees!

However, to see my side score an extraordinary goal in the 92nd minute and bring back our hope for the Euro competition was a feeling I cannot describe in words. You have to live it to understand. I don’t want to go on with this because if I start with football I can write till tomorrow. Head on over to http://www.euro2008.uefa.com and see for yourself!
